Rainier Valley Teen Center Current Character & Leadership Development Programs


Keystone Club
Keystone Clubs are chartered small group leadership development clubs for young people ages 14-18.  This service Club is one of the most dynamic teen leadership programs in America.  Members elect officers, choose their own activities and plan community service projects.  A national charter entitles a Keystone Club to participate in the annual National Keystone Conference, where Keystone Club members from across the country gather in a different city each year to develop leadership skills, exchange ideas, discuss current issues and make friends.  Each year members also select a national project for local Keystone Clubs to complete.  The combined action of thousands of local Keystone members throughout the nation results in a project of distinct significance.

 

Youth Venture*
Enabling young people to learn early on in life that they can lead social change, Youth Venture inspires and invests in team of young people (age 12-20) to start their own community benefiting services, clubs, organizations or businesses.  Young people are provided coaching, resources and up to $1,000 to help make their ideas for change a reality.

Junior Staff
Junior Staff: Cultivating Tomorrow's Club Professionals Today is a program that assists Club members ages 13 to 18 explore a career in youth or human services, particularly Boys & Girls Club work.  Young people prepare for future rolas as human services professionals by participating in career development activities, discovering the importance of community service, building customer service skills and completing a Club apprenticeship.

 

Teen Cafe
Teens will learn about business management through operating and planning their own cafe.  Students the Seattle University Albers School of Business will mentor the teens in writing and implementing a sustainable business plan.  Teens will learn how to manage every aspect of the business from marketing and finance to operations.
